Arjen J. Zwart - Netherlands 1957
It was in 1986/87 on a journey to India that I became interested in the posibilities photography has to offer.
Looking over borders made me aware of my roots and surroundings. It was at the same time that I became interested in social documentary.
I started to make photographs of the villagers in the village where I live.
The result is my first photobook ( Achter de eerste paal) about the seavillage landscape at Egmond aan Zee in the Netherlands, published in 1999.
Abroad in India I have covered the daily life of the rickshaw pullers in Calcutta.
At this moment I am living in Istanbul where I work for newspapers and give workshops streetphotography.
NEW :"Discover the other Istanbul" workshop streetphotography especially for expats, toerists and other kind of visitors.
Next workshop : 15 january 2010
